Stemco 4x4 TrailerTail®
MVT Solutions CertifiedTM testing found the Stemco TrailerTail® saved 6.25 gal/1000 miles (5.82%) at 65 mph. In a tailwind, with air speeds equivalent to driving at 55 mph, the fuel savings were 4.44 gal/1000 miles (5.39%). In a headwind, with air speeds equivalent to a driving speed of 77 mph, fuel savings were 7.91 gal/1000 miles (6.18%). In an 13 mph crosswind, fuel savings were 7.46 gal/1000 miles (6.40%), almost as much as the headwind condition. The results speak for themselves, the 4×4 TrailerTail saves a lot of fuel.
The wind conditions during testing, and capabilities of MVTS test methods, created an excellent opportunity to show that the Stemco 4×4 TrailerTail performs very well in all wind conditions. The variation in the test values also highlighted some of the issues commonly found with traditional test methods, such as those that rely on measuring fuel by weight, which is discussed further in the report.
